The LSU Tigers had high hopes when Lane Kiffin took the job that the Tigers could compete for the College Football Playoff from his first season on campus. While Lane Kiffin took the job because it gives him a higher ceiling, in the short term he needs to do a ton of heavy lifting as this roster is lacking talent at some of the most important quarterbacks.
Where Lane Kiffin needed to add talent to this roster more than any other position is at quarterback. Garrett Nussmeier is off to the NFL Draft while Michael Van Buren and Colin Hurley entered the Transfer Portal leaving no scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.
The start of the Transfer Portal cycle has been heavily defined by the Tigers struggles to land a quarterback. The Tigers have been after a wide variety of signal callers from Brendan Sorsby, Sam Leavitt, and Husan Longstreet, but couldn't find a signal caller.
LSU lands unique quarterback option Landen Clark
On Sunday Night, Lane Kiffin finally reeled in a quarterback commitment as Elon star Landen Clark signed with the Tigers.

When the Transfer Portal opened, no one saw Lane Kiffin dipping into the CAA to find a quarterback, but it's important to remember that the Tigers have no quarterbacks on the roster. LSU needed to add several quarterbacks to the room, and Landen Clark is the perfect player to start with for the Tigers.
This season, Landen Clark passed for 2,321 yards and 18 touchdowns with 8 interceptions as a redshirt Freshman at Elon. Clark has some impressive traits, but he'll likely need to continue developing before starting at the Power 4 level.
What Landen Clark does for the Tigers is give Lane Kiffin a ton of possibilities with his next addition. If Kiffin reels in a star like Sam Leavitt, Clark can serve as the backup and compete for the starting job in 2027. If Kiffin goes after an unproven like Husan Longstreet he brings a level of experience to the quarterback room.
