The Miami Hurricanes are preparing for another great season coming off their trip to the National Championship. Mario Cristobal’s always been an ace on the recruiting trail, and while Spring practices are important, this time of year is pivotal in building a roster for the future.
While Miami has built up the roster through traditional recruiting, the one position that’s eluded the Canes is quarterback. The last three offseasons Miami has gone out and brought in Cam Ward, Carson Beck, and Darian Mensah spending big to solidify the position.
If Miami is going to keep making National Championship pushes, finding great quarterbacks to develop for multiple seasons would allow them to spend elsewhere.
Miami makes major splash landing QB Israel Abrams
On Friday Afternoon, the Miami Hurricanes took a major step towards finding a quarterback they can build around, reeling in a commitment from Israel Abrams who made his decision on the Pat McAfee show.

Israel Abrams is ranked as the 45th best player in the Country, the 3rd best quarterback in the class, and the 2nd ranked player out of Illinois. Abrams becomes the 8th recruit to commit to the Canes this cycle while elevating the class to 8th in the rankings.
Landing Israel Abrams is truly a show of power from Mario Cristobal’s program. Purdue, Florida State, Auburn, and Iowa State all liked their chances at points, but the Canes got the latest recruiting visit and sealed the deal.
The hope for Mario Cristobal and Miami will be that Israel Abrams can develop into a multi-year starter at quarterback. While bringing in elite transfers is great, it’s also costly which makes finding a traditional recruit to develop so much more sustainable.
Mario Cristobal and the Canes will now look to make a serious push for the Nation’s best recruiting class. Miami is trending for 5-star OT Mark Matthews while the Canes always have the potential to swing a few flips.
