The college football season is nearing its halfway point following Week 5, and for some fanbases, they're counting down the days until the offseason. For every team that emerges as a contender, there's another that emerges as an absolute mess, leading to their fanbase calling for a change. We haven't seen the first head coach firing to kick off the season, but based on several results, 3 head coaches could be in trouble this weekend.

The 3 head coaches who could be on the chopping block post Week 5

Shane Beamer - South Carolina

  • Career Record: 35-33 (16-27)

Shane Beamer is seemingly racing to be the first head coach fired, and Saturday's loss to Kentucky may be the breaking point. Saturday marked the Gamecocks' 8th straight loss in SEC play, and they've lost 12 of their last 14 games against Power 4 competition. Beamer has blown 7 10+ point leads in his tenure, as this team can't close out games. There's already been fractures in the locker room with Dylan Stewart suspended, and it's likely time for the Gamecocks to bring in a new head coach.

Mike Locksley - Maryland

  • Maryland Record: 39-52 (17-50)

Seemingly every week over the past two seasons, you could ask why Maryland still hasn't fired Mike Locksley. Aside from two 8-5 seasons with Taulia Tagovailoa, Locksley has been abysmal, and Maryland doesn't look close to contending in the Big Ten. Maryland is going to have to decide if they want to be better than the doormat of the Big Ten, as they have a limit ceiling as long as they keep running it back.

Deion Sanders - Colorado

  • Colorado Record: 18-24 (9-20)

Aside from the season with his sons and Travis Hunter, Colorado has been abysmal under Deion Sanders. It's clear that the experiment isn't bringing the results Colorado hoped for, as the buzz and recruits haven't followed him to Boulder. The team is very poorly coached, and with a bye week next week, it wouldn't be surprising if the program decided to look for more stability.
