The first big Saturday of the college football season has arrived, as we'll finally have a full slate of games to enjoy, since every team will have played a game over the weekend. The arrival of the games is a breath of fresh air after an offseason filled with chaos, controversy, and constant lawsuits over eligibility rules.
The LSU Tigers have been at the center of all the drama, starting with their decision to fire Brian Kelly and replace him with Lane Kiffin. The Tigers have been in the headlines every week with claims that Lane Kiffin has tampered, unpaid contract buyouts, and constant subtle shots back and forth between Oxford and Baton Rouge.
Lane Kiffin's latest drama has come as the SEC sued LSU, claiming that the Tigers orchestrated players suing the NCAA and the league to try and return for the 2026 season. The drama reached it's peak on Thursday with a judge ruling in favor of the players who signed NFL deals, but they won't play this weekend.
Even with LSU holding off on playing the players, the Tigers and Kiffin have received a ton of hate for the entire saga, and ESPN's Paul Finebaum wasn't going to let the moment pass without giving his opinion.

On Saturday Morning, Paul Finebaum was on ESPN's SEC Nation show, where he took the moment to blast Lane Kiffin, LSU AD Verge Ausberry, President Wade Rousse, and the entire school calling out the clear lack of leadership.

Calling Lane Kiffin a "51-year-old man behaving like a 16-year-old" is exactly what you'd expect from Paul Finebaum, and what's made him so popular over the years. The easy target is always Lane Kiffin, but calling out the leadership at the school is the part that deserves far more attention in this entire saga.
LSU can't feel comfortable with the entire situation, and the massive target Lane Kiffin is putting on the school by challenging the SEC and NCAA. The President and AD certainly should have tough conversations with Lane Kiffin about the major risks if LSU is punished, but it's clear the program is comfortable operating on thin ice.
Saturday Night, LSU won't be able to hide behind the lawsuits and the chaos, as Lane Kiffin is going to have to prove whether or not he's built a winner in Baton Rouge. If Lane Kiffin wins, the fans will love him, but the second things start going poorly the entire fanbase will turn against him, and call out this entire saga as when they knew it wouldn't work out.
