Game 10 - at Oklahoma

Humbled

West Virginia came into Norman, Oklahoma feeling good about itself after consecutive conference wins. The bright lights and 17th-ranked Sooners humbled the Mountaineers on the 11th of November. Quarterback Garrett Greene put forth his worst game of the season, despite leading WVU to victory over the Sooners in the 2022 season. West Virginia simply did not have what it takes to compete with the Sooners who, unlike the Mountaineers, were coming off of back-to-back losses. Many questioned what kind of effort Oklahoma would play with, but those questions were answered early in this game. Oklahoma got out to a 31-14 lead at halftime. In the early going of the 3rd quarter, Dillon Gabriel connected with Drake Stoops for a 60-yard touchdown pass, putting this one on ice.

West Virginia struggled mightily on offense and defense. Simply put, they couldn’t get much going against a fast, physical Sooner defense, and they couldn’t seem to stop the Sooner offense led by Dillon Gabriel who threw for 423 yards and 5 touchdowns. West Virginia would leave Norman sitting at 6-4 overall and 4-3 in conference play.

Mountaineer Notables:

Garrett Greene - 10/27, 154 yards, 2 touchdowns, 1interception

CJ Donaldson Jr. - 14 carries, 79 yards, 1 touchdown

Devin Carter - 3 receptions, 67 yards, 1 touchdown

Anthony Wilson - 11 tackles

Hershey McLaurin - 9 tackles

Beanie Bishop Jr. - 8 tackles, 2 pass defended

Final Score: Oklahoma 59, WVU 20
