Game 11 - vs Cincinnati

Back to the bread and butter against a familiar foe

West Virginia faced off with the Cincinnati Bearcats for their first matchup since 2011 when they were Big East foes. West Virginia made sure to get off to a good start in this renewed rivalry that dates back to 1921.

West Virginia’s first scoring drive went for 91 yards on 14 plays, capped off by a Garrett Greene rushing touchdown. By half-time, the Mountaineers had a 28-7 lead. After the beatdown in Norman, it was nice to see West Virginia get back to what had allowed them to have so much success in the first place this season, their ability to run the football. West Virginia carried the ball 46 times while accumulating 424 yards and 5 touchdowns. This was the second time in 2023 that the Mountaineers picked up 5 touchdowns on the ground, the other coming on the road at UCF. The third quarter saw much of the same as the route was on. At one point the Mountaineers led the Bearcats 42-7 en route to picking up their 5th conference win on the season. Cincinnati was simply outmatched this go-around in Morgantown.

Mountaineer Notables:

Garrett Greene - 12/19, 210 yards, 1 touchdowns, 1interception, 11 carries, 154 yards, 3 touchdowns

Jahiem White - 21 carries, 204 yards, 1 touchdown, 1 reception, 75 yards, 1 touchdown

Lee Kpogba - 10 tackles, 1 sack

Anthony Wilson - 8 tackles

Final Score: WVU 42, Cincinnati 21
