Trevor Knight announced he is transferring from the Oklahoma Sooners, but where could he be finishing his college football career? Here are the top five transfer options for the former Sugar Bowl sensation.

Now that the Trevor Knight transfer has been granted by the Oklahoma Sooners, the graduate will begin his search for a new team. After losing his starting spot to Baker Mayfield as the Sooners quarterback, he will have a chance to once again prove himself at another big-time program.

The fact Knight earned praise from Oklahoma coach Bob Stoops and fellow players even after having to resort to playing backup is a testament to his patience and team-first mentality, and other teams will undoubtedly see that as well. And lucky for Knight, there are plenty of teams who will be in dire need of a quarterback of his caliber.

More from Big 12

His first opportunity to start at Oklahoma was in the midst of a 2013 Sugar Bowl season. Knight was gutsy, and at times brilliant behind center during that stretch. It all culminated with the four touchdown passes and 348 passing yards he threw against Alabama in a 45-31 Sugar Bowl victory, one of the most impressive QB performances against the Tide in recent memory.

So perhaps another SEC team would want him for their matchups against Alabama. Or maybe it’d be smarter for him to stay in the Big 12, gunning it around in the pass-happy conference. Perhaps a powerful offensive scheme from outside the Big 12 would suite his needs.

Wherever he picks, Knight will want to quickly erase the memory of an unsteady 2014 that eventually led to his benching. He’ll have more than a few potential suitors, these five the likeliest of all.
