Big 12 Power Rankings Week 8: Who’s No. 1 Now?
It finally happened. After thinking we had successfully separated the tiers of the Big 12, West Virginia managed to infiltrate the whole thing by upsetting Baylor over the weekend. Now, we have gone from five teams to six teams in contention for the Big 12 title, and it truly is up for grabs among those six.
Now, we can really separate the conference by tiers, though, because there are three 1-loss teams, three 2 loss teams, two 3-4 teams, and two 2-5 teams. The question is how we separate those teams in each tier. And the 2-loss teams could easily fight their way into the same tier as the 1-loss teams.

In general, this is a much deeper conference than anybody would have thought at the beginning of the year. More than half of it has a case for belonging in the Top 25 right now, which is something that can’t really be said in any other conference. It makes sorting everything out a little more difficult for us than usual.
But we are going to try our best, and note that all of these power rankings can be completely reordered by one crazy weekend.
So here are our Big 12 Power Rankings for Week 8 with not a lot of certainty in putting it together.
