Stanford schedules series with TCU, Vanderbilt
Stanford scheduled a four-game series with Vanderbilt that will begin in 2021 and one with TCU beginning in 2024.
It’s that time of year when scheduling announcements are made in the middle of the offseason with teams amping up their spring practices.

Today, two of the most prestigious academic institutions agreed to meet on the gridiron with Stanford and Vanderbilt beginning a four-game series in 2021, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.
The Sept. 18, 2021, and Sept. 6, 2025 game will be played at Vanderbilt with the Sept. 7, 2024, and Sept. 11, 2027 games taking place on the Farm at Stanford.
This will be the first time that the two teams have played in football and the first time playing an SEC opponent since playing LSU in 1977. In fact, Stanford has only played seven games against SEC opponents in their entire history and zero have taken place at Stanford.
Current head coach of Vanderbilt is Derek Mason who was previously the defensive coordinator at Stanford, but with the game set six years in the future it might be a bit far-fetched to envision Mason standing on the sideline when Vanderbilt and Stanford meet on the gridiron.
As for current Stanford head coach David Shaw, he’s had interest from NFL teams about head coaching jobs and he’s not a lock to be at Stanford when these two teams meet either.
Stanford also announced a home-and-home series with TCU that will be played at Stanford on Aug. 31, 2024 and at TCU on Sept. 4, 2027.
