Kendall had previously been committed to Tennessee but decommitted from the Vols on March 10. He visited Norman, OK on March 25 where he received his scholarship offer from the Sooners. He visited Auburn on April 3 before committing to Bob Stoops and Oklahoma today.
Leaving that visit I was blown away by it all,” Kendall said, via 247Sports. “I sat down and thought about everything and committed.”
“It felt like home.”
The 6-2, 205-pound quarterback is the nation’s No. 181 overall recruit, No. 8 pro-style recruit and the No. 5 recruit in the state of North Carolina, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.
“Everything they showed me is great from the quarterback situation to the offense they run,” Kendall said. “All they’re going to do is win. I’m really looking forward to it.”
Kendall was recruited primarily by first-year offensive coordinator Lincoln Riley who developed Shane Carden into a record-breaking quarterback at East Carolina.
With Tuesday’s commitment from Kendall, Oklahoma has three commitments for the 2016 class with Kendall being the headliner so far with a pair of three-star recruits rounding out the class that ranks as the No. 40 class overall and the No. 5 class in the Big 12, according to the 247Sports team rankings.
With him committed, Kendall will not shift from the recruited to the recruiter as he works on some skill position players to join him at Oklahoma and give the Sooners one of the top classes in the Big 12 and the nation.
You can see Kendall’s highlights from his junior year in his highlight film below and see the type of player Oklahoma got today. Kendall threw for 4,461 yards and threw 49 touchdowns in as a junior in 2014.
