Everett Golson delays transfer decision, more visits coming?

Everett Golson was reportedly set to announce where he’ll be playing his college football in 2015 on Monday but the Notre Dame transfer quarterback has put those plans on hold.

The free agent saga of Notre Dame transfer quarterback Everett Golson was supposed to come to an end today after a report last week said he would be announcing where he’ll be transferring on Monday and the Florida State Seminoles were the team for him.

However, a change of events has transpired for Golson who won’t make his plans known on Monday and could even let this play out a little longer and take some extra visits, according to ESPN’s Brett McMurphy.

Golson has already visited Florida State where he and Jimbo Fisher were “negotiating” and Fisher made it clear that he wouldn’t promise Golson the starting job and he would have to work for his job, just like the rest of the players on the Seminoles. And he took a visit to Florida and Georgia the following days.

Could the negotiations at FSU be a sticking point for Golson?

Wherever Golson decides to play his last season of college football he will have a competition on his hands, so I wouldn’t expect Fisher’s comments that Golson compete for the job to turn him off, but perhaps FSU isn’t the overwhelming favorite that we were once led to believe.

In addition to FSU, Florida and Georgia, Golson has a list of 10 schools he submitted to and was approved by Notre Dame’s compliance department. Schools on the list include South Carolina which has already said they aren’t pursuing Golson and Alabama and UCLA.
