Big 12 football media picks TCU to win conference over Baylor in preseason poll
The Big 12 football media picked the TCU Horned Frogs to be the conference champions after the preseason poll was revealed on Thursday afternoon.
TCU and Baylor were the class of the Big 12 last year with the two teams finishing with identical conference records and were named co-champions despite the Bears beating the Horned Frogs.

The co-champions and lack of a conference championship game resulted in both teams being left out of the first College Football Playoff, something that still eats away at head coaches Gary Patterson and Art Briles.

Both Baylor and TCU are expected to be the class of the conference again this year with only 24 votes separating the two teams in the Big 12 football media preseason poll.
TCU came on top with 32 first-place votes compared to 10 for Baylor and are the media’s preseason pick to be Big 12 conference champions with Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas rounding out the top five.
West Virginia, Kansas State, Texas Tech, Iowa State and Kansas round out the bottom half of the media poll.
I’m not surprised to see the top four in that order, but I am surprised to see a Bill Snyder coached team picked to finish seventh in the conference.
Regardless of the fact they must replace Jake Waters and Tyler Lockett, among others, on the team, this is the best coach in the nation who gets the most out of his roster. I can envision them finishing in the top five in the conference.
But at least the bottom two teams should be right with Kansas and Iowa State expected to have an uphill battle to finish with more than a single conference win.
