Expansion was on the table for discussion once again as Big 12 Media Days kicked off on Monday.

With Big 12 Media Days beginning on Monday, you just knew the topic of expansion would come to the forefront and sure enough it was one of the first questions for Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby.

Conference expansion has been a hot topic because of the conference’s lack of a conference championship game and the prevailing thought that they need to add two teams to get the conference championship game and avoid being slighted in the eyes of the college football playoff committee.

The lack of a conference championship game cost TCU and Baylor a shot at the playoff last year when they were co-champions. The lack of one true champion opened the door for Ohio State to pass them in the final week and earn the last spot in the Playoff where they won the national title.

However, Bowlsby believes the majority of teams prefer the status quo of 10 teams and doesn’t believe they are at a disadvantage.

ESPN.com’s Max Olson shares the full quotes from Bowlsby at Big 12 Media Days in regard to expansion.

So you can forget about your pipe dream of Florida State and Clemson joining the Big 12. And for the time being, you can forget about the likes of Houston, Cincinnati, BYU, Boise State, Central Florida or other prominent Group of Five members.
