Kansas State should be on upset alert vs. Louisiana Tech

The Kansas State Wildcats have been shaky, at times over the past two weeks and could be an upset candidate against Louisiana Tech.

Kansas State has had an interesting first two weeks of the season. The first game of the season starting quarterback Jesse Ertz suffered a season-ending knee injury against South Dakota and had to be replaced by Joe Hubener. Since then, injuries have been the theme of the season with several starters going down to injury, even kicker Matthew McCrane was injured vs. Texas-San Antonio.

The Wildcats are going to have to live by a next man up philosophy as they prepare to take on the Louisiana Tech Bulldogs behind Hubener who has passed for 390 yards and seems to be getting a handle on the offense.

For many Kansas State fans, the defense is what has been the most impressive facet of the team. The Wildcats’ defense will face a bigger test against an angry Louisiana Tech that was outplayed by Western Kentucky last Thursday. Picking off the Wildcats would be a momentum builder at this early point of the season for head coach Skip Holtz.

Kansas State will need to account for Bulldogs’ quarterback Jeff Driskel and running back Kenneth Dixon. The Florida transfer has been solid throughout the early course of the season, throwing for 631 yards and six touchdowns. Dixon has carried the load with an average of 137 yards per game on the ground.

The Wildcats will be tested this weekend as they look to enter Big 12 play with some momentum on their sides.
