The Texas Tech Red Raiders are having a big game against No. 12 Oklahoma State as they look to pull off the upset against the Cowboys. Helping the Red Raiders get off to a hot start and put the Pokes on upset alert was a ridiculous opening quarter for wide receiver Jakeem Grant.
Grant used his time in the first quarter to absolutely tear up the Oklahoma State defense. Early in the quarter the Raiders were stuck deep in Cowboy territory. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes dumped the ball off to Grant, who dodged and weaved his way through the Cowboy secondary, busting out 90 yards before being brought down at the OSU 7. This fantastic play would lead to a Texas Tech touchdown.
Grant would get a rest after the drive, but would come back in later to bust out another huge downfield run. Following a Cowboy touchdown, Grant got the ball off the kickoff return and proceeded to gas the Oklahoma State special teams, running for a 100-yard kick return for a touchdown.
Grant still wasn’t done, grabbing another 20-yard reception at the end of the quarter to make it 210 all-purpose yards. This would later be confirmed by ESPN Stats & Info to be the most all-purpose yards of any player in a single quarter this season.
Grant passed the performance of Temple running back Jahad Thomas, who had 201 all-purpose yards in the third quarter of Temple’s game with Cincinnati early in the season.

This was certainly a fantastic explosion of yards for Texas Tech, who was able to use it to take the lead over Oklahoma State.
Grant also scored another touchdown in the beginning of the second quarter, further cementing this game as his best career performance before they even his the second half.
We’ll see if the Red Raiders can use this burst of offense to pull off the win over the undefeated Cowboys, and if Grant is able to continue to add on to this tremendous production.
