TCU Football: Trevone Boykin unlikely to play vs Oklahoma
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin is unlikely to play against Oklahoma.
With the stakes high as ever for the No. 18 TCU Horned Frogs as they take on the No. 7 Oklahoma Sooners, they may have to play this marquee matchup without one of their biggest stars.
TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin is unlikely to play in this game as he is dealing with an ankle injury per a report from Adam Silverstein of CBSSports.com. Head coach Gary Patterson told Holly Rowe of ESPN Saturday that redshirt freshman Foster Sawyer will likely start in Boykin’s place.
This is a big blow for the program as Boykin has been a key part of their offense. He has been efficient through the air throwing for 3,427 yards and 29 touchdowns while only throwing nine interceptions.

He has also been a threat on the ground, carrying the ball for 596 yards and eight touchdowns numbers that have caused his name to be mentioned in the Heisman conversation throughout the season, until the Horned Frogs recent slide, that is.

It is not known if he will be able to start in TCU’s game against Baylor next week.
Now is Sawyer’s time to shine. It is in these types of moments where you find out if a player can rise to the challenge or if he will fold under the pressure of the lights.
Certainly this is a big moment for Sawyer, and one that no matter how nervous he is, he will have to take advantage of if he wants to show that he belongs in big-time college football.
Kickoff for this game is set for 8 p.m. ET.
