The LSU Tigers have a championship caliber team that is filled with talent. Quarterback play is one of the few keys to their season.

The LSU Tigers Football team returns most of its players from last year, and in most ways that’s a very good thing. However, quarterback play has been a concern recently, and with Brandon Harris coming back, many fans feel that the team will confront the same issues.

Harris, a junior, has shown plenty of promise to believe that he’ll display improvement. His 10 yard average per pass as a freshman was great, and he hasn’t thrown many interceptions, even considering LSU is a run-first team.

Additionally, he didn’t throw an interception in his first seven contests in 2015. While it was the easier part of the schedule, he faced some good competition in Mississippi State, Auburn and Florida without any picks.

His development may not be as fast as the program wants, but he has shown potential to have better performances in the future.

In LSU’s spring game, Harris looked pretty comfortable. He completed 11-of-16 passes for 106 yards, and while it wasn’t anything overly impressive, Harris didn’t really need to light up the stat sheet. He showed efficient play and avoided turnovers, and that’s what LSU needs from him.

LSU can believe in Harris because he doesn’t even have to carry the weight of the team. He has the expectation to get better, but he doesn’t need to average more than three passing touchdowns a game in order for the Tigers to win. He only needs to help the offense become more balanced so that star running back Leonard Fournette doesn’t need to shoulder all the weight.

LSU has enough talent and the means to do some big things this season. With a strong supporting cast, look for Harris to take care of business for LSU in 2016.
