The Oklahoma State football team returns a heavily experienced offense including top wide receiver James Washington who is in line to be the next stud receiver for the Cowboys.

Oklahoma State head coach Mike Gundy is known for his stat packing offenses. In fact, from 2005 to now he has put forth many well-known Big 12 names. Adarius Bowman, Dez Bryant, Justin Blackmon and Josh Stewart have all had success in Gundy’s air raid system.

James Washington is the next great receiver in the Cowboys’ long line of prestigious players.

Washington started his first two years on campus and managed to put up huge numbers. He caught 28 passes for 456 yards and six touchdowns his freshman year despite questionable quarterback play.

More from Big 12

Washington followed up the 2014 season by becoming a dominant deep ball threat. He caught a decent amount of passes (53) but it was his yards (1,087), yards per catch (20.5) and touchdowns (10) that were impressive.

He doesn’t have the size or dominance of a Bowman, Bryant or Blackmon. But he does have decent size at 6-0 and 200 pounds. His style of play is an entirely different mold than the previously mentioned players.

He’s a burner and a soon-to-be number one receiver for the upcoming season. All he did was blow the top off of coverages and embarrass Big 12 defensive backs everywhere.

Oklahoma State quarterback Mason Rudolph has a big arm and it went perfectly with Washington’s speed. Washington and Rudolph came up together on the OSU squad. And with their added chemistry over the last two seasons, expect them to connect even more in 2016.

Mike Gundy is an aggressive guy and along with this duo, he should make OSU a contender. The Bedlam game and the Baylor Bears will basically decide how far this team can go. If they can surpass those two games and take care of business against TCU. Oklahoma State could be a dark horse for the playoff.
