Lee Corso made his 300th College GameDay Headgear selection. Did he pick the No. 23 West Virginia Mountaineers or the No. 8 TCU Horned Frogs in front of their home crowd?

Lee Corso has put on a lot of mascot heads over the last 21 years. This week it will be his 300th time picking a team by donning their mascot’s garb. He got to pick between one of the most intricate mascot heads in the TCU Horned Frog and a knockoff Davey Crockett costume with the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Corso had to make this same decision for his 250th headgear pick. That time these two teams and the College GameDay crew were all in Morgantown in 2014. The pick did not go smoothly. Corso put the SuperFrog head on backward. On the field, the pick went much better. TCU scored the final ten points of the game and walked it off with a field goal to win 31-30. That was the last time either team was featured on GameDay. Last season, the Mountaineers dominated TCU 34-10.

The last time Fort Worth hosted College GameDay was 2009. TCU rolled over Utah in that game 54-28. Corso is 4-0 picking the Horned Frogs headgear. TCU is 5-0 in total in GameDay games. West Virginia is 1-2. Corso has never worn the coonskin cap of the Mountaineer.

This year, TCU and West Virginia meet as ranked teams for the second time in four years. TCU is coming off a bye and an impressive win over Oklahoma State that vaulted them into the conversation with Oklahoma as favorites in the Big 12. West Virginia lost to Virginia Tech in the season opener but has handled their light schedule since. TCU is a 13-point favorite.

Corso is 3-2 with his headgear picks this season after a win with Clemson last week. He is 196-103 all-time. He has picked 56 different schools in that time and had the chance to add one more to that list with his 300th headgear selection.

Let’s go to the pick:

Corso went with TCU and the SuperFrog head for the fifth time. Can he stay undefeated backing the Horned Frogs? Because the game is on FS1, Kirk Herbstreit got to make the rare pick on College GameDay instead of just a key to the game. It was a clean sweep of the panel with Desmond Howard, Tim McGraw, and Herbstreit taking the Horned Frogs as well.
