LSU Football: 3 bold predictions for SEC bout vs. Florida in Week 6
By Shelbie Warr
2. Florida’s Feleipe Franks can’t outplay Joe Burrow
This is a battle of two quarterbacks, one who has shown that he can play against the big dogs — at least those who he has faced so far — and one who has been bailed out by his defense week after week. Basically, one will be successful on Saturday afternoon and the other will likely disappoint a big number of people.
Joe Burrow transfered from Ohio State and has been exactly what the Tigers needed to move from an middle of the road SEC West team to a competitor at the top of the division. Will he be able to fight off Alabama? Probably not, but he can fight off the Gators. Most importantly though, he will be able to outplay Gators quarterback Feleipe Franks.
Redshirt sophomore Feleipe Franks has had a significantly better season than he did a year ago. However, that isn’t saying much when he only threw for nine touchdowns and had eight interceptions last season, playing in all eleven games- making eight starts at quarterback.
It is important to note that only one touchdown was thrown in the Florida vs. Mississippi State and it was thrown by a receiver. If Franks can’t start actually throwing touchdowns, outplaying Joe Burrow will be a farfetched dream.
