I know what you’re already thinking. This kid is committed to Florida already, so why would the Gators see him as a priority target? In the recruiting landscape, anything can happen. He has yet to sign his letter of intent, so there’s a chance he could switch things up in February.

From Mississippi State commit to former Bulldog pledge, Black also has ties to Dan Mullen at his last head coaching job. He was actually committed to Mississippi State back in 2017 and de-committed just last spring before giving the Gators a serious look. He’s since committed to Florida but didn’t sign his letter of intent in the early period.

A reason for concern? Maybe, but he hasn’t given any indication that he is heading anywhere but Gainesville, but again, recruiting is a wild business and Black has de-committed before.

Florida has to be praying that it holds on to this talented inside linebacker, originally from Mississippi but playing prep ball in Kissimmee, Fla., seeing as he has all the tools to be an instant contributor on the Gator defense.

Black is ranked the No. 38 player and third-best inside linebacker in the entire 2019 class, per 247Sports, standing 6-foot-3.5, 216 pounds.
