2. Jacob Eason isn’t a big-time quarterback

It’s time to admit that maybe Jacob Eason isn’t an elite quarterback. That’s what fans were thinking to themselves after watching him struggle at home against a Cal team that many believed would win 6-7 games this year. No one expected the Golden Bears to take down the Huskies on their home turf, but here we are.

Eason finished the game with 162 yards and a touchdown on just 18-of-30 completions and fans were left wondering what the heck happened after a Week 1 breakout.

Well, Cal’s secondary happened. We can’t judge Eason on a game like this when his time under center was separated with a monster delay due to weather and against one of the best defensive backfields in all of college football. Yes, you read that correctly, Cal has one of the best passing defenses in the nation, dating back to last year.

The Golden Bears game-planned for Eason perfectly and knew what was coming their way. This is what led to the win, but it’s not on Eason alone.

The Washington-native and Georgia-transfer has the arm talent to be elite, but he had one bad game against one of the nation’s top defenses. It happens.
