3. Run game is going to miss Kennedy Brooks

When Kennedy Brooks announced his intention to opt out of the 2020 season about a month ago, it was pretty clear that the Oklahoma offense was going to be inexperienced and seeking plenty of answers and potential breakout candidates. The run game was probably going to take a bit of a hit, right?

Well, that held true on Saturday night as the Sooners’ run game wasn’t exactly blowing the Missouri State defense out of the water.

Oklahoma did find a nice addition to the run game in freshman Seth McGowan who was a top-200 recruit in this past class but will he have enough to carry the load? He finished the game with nine carries for 61 yards and a touchdown and he also had a 37-yard touchdown catch. He might be the go-to guy in the backfield, but he’s going to need some help.

This is where having Brooks leading the way with McGowan as an elite RB2 option would be a key to a serious playoff run. Imagine that backfield tandem.

McGowan and Marcus Major might not be enough.
