2. Eric Gray is emerging as a star

We all know about Ty Chandler and what the senior running back could potentially bring to the table in the run game, but there’s a new star in the backfield emerging.

Eric Gray didn’t lead the Volunteers in carries on Saturday afternoon, but it didn’t matter as he led the team in rushing with 105 yards on 16 touches. He added a touchdown on the ground and a 13-yard receiving score, showing that he can be a threat in both facets of the offense and should earn more touches moving forward.

There’s a reason Gray was ranked a top-100 prospect in his recruiting class and he should be getting more carries moving forward despite a pedestrian opener against South Carolina.

Missouri couldn’t figure out how to stop the sophomore back as he topped 100 yards and out-did his senior backfield mate. Could we see the guard changing in the Volunteers’ backfield moving forward?
