College Football Top 25 Power Rankings, Week 7: Clemson sews up No. 1 spot
It’s tough to say teams that haven’t played a single game yet this season deserve to be in these power rankings, but Michigan is one of the most talented teams in college football, on paper.
Everyone was quick to jump ship on Oklahoma, including myself, after a second straight loss in Week 5 as the Sooners lost to Iowa State. However, the Sooners were ranked in the top 10 to start the season for a reason and if Spencer Rattler can get back on track like he did in the second half and overtime against the Longhorns, this team is going to be tough to beat. I’m back on the bandwagon after a Red River Rivalry win.
Yes, Auburn won in Week 6. Yes, Auburn is dropping a couple spots here. The Tigers may have beaten Arkansas on Saturday at home, 30-28, but they probably shouldn’t have won. They won thanks to a controversial call on a muffed spike by Bo Nix which should have been a fumble with 14 seconds left. I’m not impressed with Auburn in the least this season.
Louisiana’s Week 6 game was postponed due to Hurricane Delta but Billy Napier’s team is going to be in the teens until further notice. The Ragin’ Cajuns’ win over Iowa State is looking better by the week, but was it a fluke?
Saturday’s battle between Miami and Clemson was tough to watch. The Hurricanes were dominated from start to finish in what was supposed to be a tight battle in Death Valley. It wasn’t. D’Eriq King wasn’t impressive, the defense was torched for 42 points and it obviously should have been an even bigger win for Clemson if not for some silly mistakes. Ten spots down almost doesn’t seem like enough but Miami was great for three games this year.
