2. Florida is a playoff team

Although Florida is ranked just sixth in the nation after beating the fifth-ranked Bulldogs, I can say that the Gators are one of the four best teams in college football right now. The other three? Alabama, Clemson and Ohio State — maybe Notre Dame as well.

I just don’t see Cincinnati actually making the playoff and that’s not a knock on the Bearcats, but I believe the committee would take a one-loss Power Five team over an undefeated Group of Five team. That might be a reason to expand the playoff to eight teams in the future.

Florida may have had a slip-up against Texas A&M, but the Aggies, too, look like a team that can make the College Football Playoff. That’s not a bad loss, especially on the road.

The Gators are ranked No. 6, but I could see the committee giving them the nod over teams like Notre Dame and Cincinnati when the time comes, especially if Florida can win the SEC title over a team like Alabama.

Right now, Florida is playing like a playoff team.
