2. Todd Grantham’s defense responded in the second half

In the first half, the cameras flashed to the sidelines where Dan Mullen was in the ear of his defensive coordinator Todd Grantham. It felt like a long time coming because the defense just hasn’t lived up to expectations this season as it’s the only thing that’s holding the team back from being the best in the country.

Grantham’s defense was getting gashed in the first half for over 100 rushing yards and almost 200 yards of total offense. After this stern talking-to, his defense responded.

In the second half, the defense gave up no points and held the Wildcats to under 50 yards of offense. This is exactly what Mullen wanted to see and fans had to feel good about this, especially moving into the latter stages of the season.

If the defense can continue this momentum after the second half leading into the final games and the playoff, there will be no stopping the Gators.
