For the first time in years, Florida fans had one of the elite quarterbacks in college football and a Heisman Trophy finalist leading the way in 2020. It had to be a breath of fresh air after years of underachieving play from the position.

But Kyle Trask is gone now and the team will be tasked with forging ahead with Emory Jones under center. But he’s a junior and by the time Anthony Richardson takes over, he, too, will be an upperclassman. That means the Gators will be tasked with finding their eventual replacement and that could come in the 2022 class.

Dan Mullen has taken a liking to dual-threat quarterbacks and Jacurri Brown is just that. Plus he has size at 6-foot-4 and 205 pounds.

Brown might just be the Gators’ top quarterback target in the 2022 class and he looks to be showing that mutual interest. Florida has even garnered a crystal ball on 247Sports from Steve Wiltfong for Brown which is actually a big deal. He’s a national recruiting insider/expert.

The four-star quarterback from Georgia is ranked the No. 126 overall prospect and sixth-best dual-threat in 2022, per the composite. Texas A&M, Miami and Arizona State are all going to make a push here, but I expect Florida to be at the forefront of this recruitment.
