Nebraska football picked up multiple commitments this past week at key positions and the Huskers could be adding to their 2022 class soon.

It’s never a good thing when you swing and miss on a top priority in your recruiting class as the Nebraska football program did recently with four-star quarterback MJ Morris.

The Huskers recruited him hard, he simply chose North Carolina State instead. It was a blow, but Nebraska football rebounded quickly by landing three-star quarterback Richard Torres out of Texas.

Torres isn’t ranked as high as Morris obviously, but he’s got a big arm and lots of upside. It was a good addition and at least gives the Huskers a talented passer to groom from this class.

Nebraska then added another skill position player later in the week as three-star running back Ashton Hayes out of Reno, Nevada committed to the Huskers.

Hayes is 5-foot-11, 180 pounds, and is ranked 489th overall in the 2022 class, as well as 38th among running backs. He’s also the top-ranked commitment for the Huskers so far in 2022.

While he’s coming to Nebraska football as a running back, he’s listed as an athlete. He’s got a verified 40 time of 4.48 and also has the look of a pretty solid receiver.

At any rate, those additions have given the Huskers momentum in the 2022 recruiting class, and according to some recent crystal ball predictions, that could continue.

More good news on the horizon?

Nebraska is used to the state of Colorado after playing the Buffaloes so many times over the years and the Huskers’ next commitment could come from the state as three-star receiver Grant Page, out of Boulder, has been trending to the Huskers.

Page is 6-foot-3, 190 pounds, and is ranked 759th overall in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Kansas State is the other program in the mix with him taking a visit there. Utah, Georgia Tech, and Wake Forest recently offered; Colorado has an offer in too but it looks like Page will be choosing Nebraska which has picked up six crystal ball predictions in the past two days.

Jake Appleget of Lincoln Southeast could actually be the next commit in the class. The edge rusher who is 6-foot-4, 210 pounds, and is unranked in the 247 composite rankings, is visiting this weekend and has four crystal ball predictions to the Huskers.

Appleget only has one other Power-5 offer, which is from Minnesota. He is ranked 62nd at his position in the 247 sports’ specific rankings for 2022, as well as the No. 6 player in Nebraska, so it would still be a solid get for Scott Frost and company.
