Red-hot July

Recruiting always picks up over the summer and with the dead period finally ending at the start of June, that was to be expected.

Penn State football hosted a ton of recruits on campus just as every other program did and throughout the summer, the Nittany Lions have been firing on all cylinders.

There have been a few misses here and there, but you can’t hit win every recruiting battle, and with the commitment of Christian Driver on Thursday — the son of former NFL pro-bowler Donald Driver, gave Penn State its 10th commitment this month — 10th!

This month alone, Franklin has landed Nicholas Singleton and Dani Denis-Sutton, who are both ranked in the top 100 and were must-get prospects for Penn State this cycle.

The Nittany Lions also reaffirmed the commitment of top-200 offensive tackle Drew Shelton who was looking hard to Florida. Driver’s addition (ranked 210th overall) to the class gives Penn State two four-star DB commitments in a matter of days.

This class has top-200 prospects committed at running back, wide receiver, left tackle, defensive line, cornerback, and quarterback. And outside of landing a bunch of five-star recruits, which isn’t really in Penn State’s wheelhouse, it’s hard to see how this class could be better, although it’s far from finished.
