Air Force Football: Falcons hope to keep rolling in 2021
Light early schedule leaves hope for plenty of opportunity for Air Force
Playing in the Mountain West means that to win the conference, Air Force is probably going to have to go through Boise State or Nevada to make that happen and the Falcons play both of them. If the starters from a couple of years ago still fit in nicely, this schedule might set up for a run to the title game.
- Game 1: Lafayette (W)- The Falcons open the season with an easy win.
- Game 2: At Navy (W)- This is going to be a close game, but I like the Falcons defense to get stop late and win the rivalry game.
- Game 3: Utah State (W)- The Aggies are rebuilding and won’t have the defense to slow down Air Force’s option attack.
- Game 4: FAU (W)- The Owls are having QB issues and I don’t think that is a good problem to have vs Air Force.
- Game 5: At New Mexico (W)- Expect a fifth straight win for the Falcons, as the Lobos are another weak defensive team that won’t be able to stop the run.
- Game 6: Wyoming (L)- This is going to be a vital game if the Falcons are going to win the division, but I think the Cowboys have the better team.
- Game 7: At Boise State (L)- Not much needs to be said about how important this game is, but I like the Broncos here even with a new coach.
- Game 8: San Diego State (L)- The Aztecs are a good team defensively and will steal a win over the Falcons.
- Game 9: Vs Army (L)- Another opportunity to win the Commander in Chief trophy will slip through the fingers of the Air Force again.
- Game 10: At Colorado State (L)- Air Force won’t be able to stop the losing streak on the road vs the Rams.
- Game 11: At Nevada (L)- Nevada has one of the best QB’s in the country and Air Force won’t be able to keep up.
- Game 12: UNLV (W)- Air Force gets to bowl eligibility with a win over the Rebels.
Final Record: 6-6, 3-5 MWC
This schedule is light to start out with, but it is tough on the back end. I might be a little too pessimistic on Air Force this season, it is just that the Mountain West has gotten better and some of the tougher games that the team plays is on the road. This team has a higher ceiling than 6-6.
