Schedule sets up nicely for a run at another Sun Belt title

Coastal will enter the season with everyone’s respect because of last season and they will need that respect this season. If the Chanticleers are successful in winning the Sun Belt, their schedule is going to be picked apart if they are up for a spot in a New Years Six game. The added respect of last year could help them win a bid if it is close between two teams.

  • Game 1: The Citadel (W)- Coastal will start the season off with a win against a solid FCS opponent in The Citadel.
  • Game 2: Kansas (W)- Coastal went into Lawrence and won by 15 last season and the margin might be even bigger this season.
  • Game 3: At Buffalo (W)- Buffalo nearly won the MAC last season, but with head coach Lance Leipold leaving for the Kansas job, I can’t trust Buffalo to win this game.
  • Game 4: UMass (W)- UMass will be one of the worst teams in the country and Coastal will win big here.
  • Game 5: Louisiana-Monroe (W)- Coastal will start conference play with a win over the rebuilding Warhawks.
  • Game 6: At Arkansas State (W)- This could be a tricky spot for Coastal, but Arkansas State is not as strong as they have been in years past.
  • Game 7: At Appalachian State (W)- This is the toughest game on the schedule for the Chants and I think the extra week to prepare will really pay off.
  • Game 8: Troy (W)- This could be a letdown spot after the big win over App State, but I think Coastal will respond with a win.
  • Game 9: At Georgia Southern (W)- The Eagles are a tough team to play on the road, but they are going to be beatable this year due to QB uncertainty.
  • Game 10: Georgia State (W)- This is a really underrated Georgia State team and I think this is an upset spot if Coastal is not careful.
  • Game 11: Texas State (W)- The Bobcats sport a good offense, but their defense is dreadful.
  • Game 12: At South Alabama (W)- Coastal will seal an undefeated regular season with a blowout win over the Jaguars.

Final Record: 12-0, 8-0 Sun Belt.

It is never an easy thing to go undefeated in college football, but all the ingredients are there for Coastal to get to the Sun Belt championship without a loss.
