2. Anthony Richardson needs to be QB1

Looking at the numbers, it’s hard to say that one quarterback was exponentially better than the other on Saturday night but there are many who believe that Anthony Richardson was slightly better and the only reason the Gators were in the game was because of him.

Emory Jones had a horrid QBR under 130 and Richardson’s was 88.9 and that’s a decent indication that he was the better option against the Tigers. Unfortunately for Florida, he didn’t get the start and Jones’ mistakes were a little too much to overcome as he had just one touchdown to two interceptions and his legs were not a factor as he had just 16 yards on 10 carries.

Richardson, on the other hand, was 10-for-19 with 167 yards, three touchdowns, and two interceptions. He was more effective through the air than Jones and his legs were a bigger factor as he had 37 yards and a touchdown on seven carries. He proved to be the better option.

Was this just a one-time thing? Not really, when healthy all year long, Richardson seems to be more explosive and a better overall weapon for the offense.

I think it’s time to start talking about Richardson as the best option for QB1 moving forward.
