Ohio State football is on fire right now in college football recruiting, but the Buckeyes aren’t alone. Clemson football and Georgia football are too.

The Ohio State football program hasn’t surpassed Notre Dame for the top spot in the 247 sports team rankings for the 2023 recruiting class, but after landing a third top-50 recruit this week (all wide receivers) the Buckeyes are scorching hot.

College football recruiting has really picked up in June and that’s not a shock with it being official visit season. The Buckeyes, who have been spectacular at recruiting and developing wide receivers continued to shock and awe at the position this week.

Clemson and Georgia have also surged into the top five of the team rankings this month, along with Penn State which landed a top-100 commitment on Tuesday. Michigan State and Notre Dame have been hot too, as well as Louisville.

The Cardinals just landed their first five-star recruit in almost 20 years and have picked up multiple top-100 prospects in the past month.

Yet, Ohio State, Clemson, and Georgia are the three hottest teams in college football recruiting right now and we break down what they have done and are going to do.

Ohio State football goes nuts with wide receivers

Apparently wide receivers watched the Buckeyes dominate defenses with their three-receiver sets last season and they have used that to land three top-10 players at the position this week including five-star wideouts Carnell Tate and Brandon Innis.

Those commitments pushed Ohio State to the top spot in the On3 team rankings for 2023 and they are No. 2 in the 247 rankings, just a few points behind Notre Dame.

But after the addition of Rogers, a 6-foot-2, 180-pound receiver out of Charlotte, the Buckeyes have five top-100 commitments (4 in the top 50). They also landed a five-star QB Dylan Raiola in 2024 not long ago.

So in terms of hot teams on the college football recruiting trail, no one can rival Ohio State right now, although Clemson is close.
