Georgia Football trending for top-100 LB Raylen Wilson after Michigan decommitment
Georgia football has a top-10 recruiting class so far in 2023 and it looks like the Bulldogs will be adding another top-100 recruit in Raylen Wilson.
For months, Georgia football has been pushing to flip top-100 linebacker Raylen Wilson, who committed to Michigan football last December after the Big Ten title game.
The Bulldogs shellacked Michigan in the Orange Bowl and for a while, it felt like Wilson’s commitment was on shaky ground. Florida started making a push and also got him on campus for an official visit this June as did Georgia football.
However, the Wolverines were able to get Wilson on campus for his final official visit and that gave Michigan some optimism that it would be able to hold off Georgia and Florida for his commitment.
But as Lee Corso always says, “Not so fast my friend.”
Georgia football trending for Raylen Wilson
Wilson decommitted from Michigan football on Tuesday night and now on Wednesday morning, Georgia football is already trending with crystal ball projections for Wilson, who is from Tallahassee, Florida, and is ranked No. 73 overall in the 247 sports composite rankings for 2023.
Five experts including Steve Wiltfong, 247 sports’ national analyst, have projected Wilson to the Bulldogs and that’s a huge win for Georgia, which would be getting its third top-100 pledge in this class, which ranks sixth overall right now in the 247 team rankings for 2023.
Of course, Georgia football fans were hoping the Dawgs would land Arch Manning. Yet, it wasn’t meant to be. Quarterback recruiting will be interesting to follow but one thing UGA can do is recruit elite defenders and Kirby Smart and company are getting another in Wilson.
Making this trend even better is the fact that Florida appeared to be in a solid position to flip Wilson at one time.
The Gators are struggling to put together a solid class under Billy Napier in his first full recruiting cycle and seeing one of the best players in the state flip to Georgia, instead of UF, is going to bother Gator fans, which should make this recruiting win even sweeter for UGA.
For Michigan, the hits just keep on coming as the Wolverines are now ranked 55th in the team rankings for 2023 with just six commitments (one from a kicker).
