Florida football: Way-too-early game-by-game predictions for 2023

The return of Spencer Rattler was met with plenty of groans throughout the SEC as he gives South Carolina a really good veteran quarterback who could legitimately lead the Gamecocks to some major goals.

South Carolina is going to be really tough to beat at home this season and that means that Florida will need to play nearly perfectly and Graham Mertz must out-duel Rattler to get the win. I don’t think either of those things happen.

Rattler passes for 300-plus and three scores and Mertz throws a couple of big picks to lose this one.

Prediction: Loss (4-3, 2-2)

The World’s Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party’s latest installment will be somewhat interesting. Florida kept it closer than people expected last season and Georgia is losing Stetson Bennett after a heck of a two-year run at quarterback with the Bulldogs.

I think that’s going to lead to another close game but I still think Georgia wins as it’s been dominating this rivalry game for years now.

Billy Napier will need to get back to the drawing board after this one because the schedule doesn’t ease up much.

Prediction: Loss (4-4, 2-3)
