Notre Dame football: Predicting where Irish land in 2023 NFL Draft
Brandon Joseph, S: Third round
Northwestern lost a real gem after the 2021 season. Brandon Joseph hit the transfer portal and went to another elite academic school to play football: Notre Dame.
The Irish, however, had a better chance to compete for championships and that’s presumably why the talented safety decided to head to South Bend and ditch Evanston. Well, that and getting more exposure — the two go hand-in-hand.
Joseph was on pretty much every preseason All-American team before 2021 after he broke out with Northwestern in 2020, recording 46 tackles, six interceptions, and two pass breakups. He finished with 79 tackles, three interceptions, and four pass breakups and his stock was at an all-time high and chose the storied program in South Bend to finish his career.
Notre Dame is going to miss Joseph in that defensive backfield.
But the Irish’s loss is going to be one NFL team’s gain somewhere in the third round. I think he goes at the end of the round to the 49ers who need a safety and they have three picks in the final four of the third.
