Penn State Football trending for a 2024 QB
Quarterback recruiting has been wild for Penn State football in the 2024 class but it looks like the Nittany Lions have found their guy after multiple crystal ball projections.
It doesn’t seem like it was that long ago that we were posting about a developing recruiting battle between Clemson and Penn State for the commitment of three-star quarterback Ethan Grunkemeyer.
Grunkemeyer is a name that’s started to get a lot of attention on the recruiting trail in the 2024 class and he recently became the top target of Clemson, which like Penn State football, has missed on a few different quarterbacks this cycle.
Penn State was recently trending for four-star QB Michael Van Buren, however, that trend didn’t last as Oregon took over and is expected to win out with a commitment announcement on Saturday expected for the Ducks.
The Nittany Lions recently offered four-star quarterback Tyler Cherry out of Indiana. However, Cherry has been picking up crystal ball projections to Duke.
You had to wonder if that was going to hold up, but based on the new projections for Grunkemeyer to wind up at Penn State, you’d have to think Duke still feels pretty good about where it stands.
That’s not-so-great news for Michigan State or Indiana, other teams trying to land the commitment of Cherry. Another interesting development on Friday was the decommitment of Daniel Kaelin from Missouri.
Kaelin, the No. 4 player in the state of Nebraska, has picked up a slew of crystal balls to the Huskers now. All of these dominos are connected to Dylan Raiola. At least some of them are.
Penn State football trending with Ethan Grunkemeyer
In terms of Grunkemeyer, he’s ranked 575th overall in the 2024 class, the No. 20 player in the state of Ohio, and the 37th-best quarterback in the 2024 class. He’s also 6-foot-2, 190 pounds.
Considering how slim the pickings are getting at quarterback, this would be a nice get for Penn State. Allen Trieu of 247 Sports wrote in his scouting report that Grunkemeyer had the look of a future starter.
Steve Wiltfong the top recruiting analyst for 247 Sports led the way with his prediction along with Brian Dohn, a top recruiting expert in the Northeast.
Penn State football got Drew Allar from Ohio and that worked out. It seems like the Nittany Lions will try their chances on another QB from the Buckeye state if they can turn these crystal ball projections into a commitment that is.
