If anyone says that Terry Bowden is in Monroe, Louisiana, doing the Lord’s work, it would be hard to argue against that. After an abrupt exit from Auburn, Bowden could have been a coordinator somewhere and got a Power Five job again. However, he went to Akron. Now he’s the head coach of ULM football.

Bowden led Akron to two bowl games, making them a tough out in the MAC. Now, he’s in year three at Louisiana-Monroe. The Warhawks have improved on the field despite having the same record (4-8) in Bowden’s first two seasons. What should be expected of the Warhawks in Bowdens’ third season?

ULM is in a precarious position in the Sun Belt. The Warhawks won five games in the two years before Bowden arrived. They’ve won eight in Bowden’s first two seasons. That said, can they improve at the rate the conference is improving? The conference added James Madison and Marshall in 2022.

The Dukes tied first in the Sun Belt East, and Marshall won nine games. Southern Miss won seven games in 2022. Where are those two additional wins going to come from?

Here is a look at the Warhawks’ offense, defense, and schedule.
