Ever since Diego Pavia beat the NCAA in court getting JUCO players an extra season of eligibility, college football has turned into a court room drama. Players like Trinidad Chambliss, Joey Aguilar, and more have all made their way to the courts this offseason with varying results for each player. The latest to kick off their case is former Virginia Cavaliers quarterback Chandler Morris.

After a standout season leading the Cavaliers to the ACC Championship, Chandler Morris decided to make a push for a 7th season of eligibility. The reason for Morris' pursuit was the fact that he dealt with shoulder injuries in 2022 and 2023 while at TCU where he played 4 games in each season.

Chandler Morris' eligibility injunction push is denied

On Thursday, Chandler Morris had his day in court where he tried to pursue a 7th season of eligibility. The Virginia standout had his case denied marking a massive hurdle in his attempts to play again in 2026.

The denial doesn't come as a surprise as Chandler Morris seemingly had plenty of factors working against him in this case. While Morris played in the ACC and could've returned to the conference, ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips filed an affidavit pushing back on Morris' attempts. This is similar to the SEC's Greg Sankey making a similar case against Alabama and Charles Bediako during his saga.

The denial marks a serious crossroads for Chandler Morris as he must quickly determine what his next steps are. The NFL Draft is just 3 weeks away, and Morris is jeopardizing any chance of being picked with each day he continues his comeback attempt.

This season, Morris passed for 3,000 yards and 16 touchdowns with 9 interceptions while adding 245 yards and 5 touchdowns with his legs. Morris' father Chad Morris has returned to Clemson as the OC which many pointed to as a potential destination if Chandler Morris was allowed to return.
