April has arrived as the NFL Draft is just weeks away from changing the future of every franchise and hundreds of players. The overwhelming sentiment of this year's NFL Draft class is that it's a weaker class which is driven by the quarterbacks. Fernando Mendoza will be the 1st overall pick, but after his name is called the entire quarterback position is in question for the rest of this draft.
The biggest question starts with Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson who's quickly become the most divisive prospect in the entire class. Analysts have ranged as far as calling Simpson a better prospect than Mendoza to saying he'll fall out of the 1st round completely. Where Ty Simpson is picked will set the rest of the course for the quarterback prospects throughout the class.
Where Every Quarterback Lands in a QB-Only Mock Draft
1. Las Vegas Raiders: Fernando Mendoza - Quarterback - Indiana
The easiest pick in the entire NFL Draft is the 1st Overall Pick as it would be truly stunning if Fernando Mendoza wasn't the 1st Overall Pick. The Raiders have already started to build the roster for Mendoza with the big signings of center Tyler Linderbaum and wide receiver Jalen Nailor. The rest of the draft will have to be about building the rest of the offensive line up, but Mendoza will have some great pieces to work with.
21. Pittsburgh Steelers: Ty Simpson - Quarterback - Alabama
Aaron Rodgers has yet to make an official decision on his future leaving the Steelers up in limbo at the quarterback position. Mike McCarthy is going to need to plan for the future, and taking Ty Simpson makes a ton of sense. If Ty Simpson can start and show promise, the team can build around him while at worst, they can take another swing next year in the loaded draft class.
103. New York Jets: Garrett Nussmeier - Quarterback - LSU
The Jets won't be in the right range to land a quarterback at the top of the class unless they fall in love with Ty Simpson. Given how much picks the Jets have in the draft next year, they likely won't take a swing on a quarterback until Day 3 of the Draft. Garrett Nussmeier would be the perfect signal caller to take a swing on as he could return to form as a top talent in this class now that he's healthy.
143. Arizona Cardinals: Drew Allar - Quarterback - Penn State
The Cardinals appear to be planning to draft a quarterback at the top of the 2027 class, but it would make a ton of sense to pick one up on Day 3 of the draft. Drew Allar has all the physical tools to develop into a solid starter, and he'd benefit a ton from sitting behind a veteran like Jacoby Brissett.
149. Cleveland Browns: Carson Beck - Quarterback - Miami
The Browns already have a crowded quarterback room with Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, and Dillon Gabriel, but none standout as solid starters. On Day 3 of the Draft, the Browns should continue to take swings hoping to find quarterbacks to develop. Carson Beck didn't have the best season at Miami, but he's worthy of taking a swing on considering the fact he was just coming off major surgery.
170. Denver Broncos: Taylen Green - Quarterback - Arkansas
The Broncos already found their franchise quarterback in Bo Nix, but Sean Payton would be the perfect coach to pick Taylen Green. Payton found a role for athletic quarterback Taysom Hill, and he could work similar magic with Taylen Green. The Arkansas star struggles with accuracy at times, but he could become an offensive weapon for the Broncos as a rusher.
178. Philadelphia Eagles: Cole Payton - Quarterback - North Dakota State
The reporting of the dysfunction between Jalen Hurts and the Eagles could be pointing toward a messy divorce. The Eagles added veteran Andy Dalton this offseason which could signal a trade of backup Tanner McKee down the line. Drafting another young quarterback to develop could give the Eagles a backup plan if things fall apart.
196. Minnesota Vikings: Cade Klubnik - Quarterback - Clemson
The JJ McCarthy era is in trouble with Kyler Murray's arrival in Minnesota this offseason. While the team will hope that JJ McCarthy continues to develop, drafting another young quarterback with Kevin O'Connell's development history would make a ton of sense. Cade Klubnik had a down season at Clemson, but working with this staff he could return to form.
238. Miami Dolphins: Sawyer Robertson - Quarterback - Baylor
The Dolphins could've been a team to watch earlier in the draft at quarterback, but after signing Malik Willis in free agency they're at least set up in the short term. Quinn Ewers provides long term upside, but Miami could look to bring in another developmental piece in Baylor's Sawyer Robertson. Arm strength will keep Robertson from being picked earlier, but he has an ability to extend plays with his legs.
243. Houston Texans: Luke Altmyer - Quarterback - Illinois
CJ Stroud missed time with injury this past season, and as Davis Mills heads into the final year of his contract, the team could look to start developing a cheaper backup quarterback. Illinois' Luke Altmyer isn't an overly exciting quarterback prospect, but he's well rounded with the chance to become a solid backup.
