Week 1 of the college football season is over, and now everyone flips the page to what should be a far more exciting week. This weekend, we’ll have far more Power 4 clashes including some big games like Texas vs Ohio State and Michigan vs Oklahoma. With bigger games come bigger stakes as teams look to start runs for the CFP while other players look to kick off Heisman campaigns.

Quarterbacks carry the biggest burdens to deliver for their teams on a weekly basis. In Week 2, 5 Power 4 starters are going to be tasked with determining their teams fate in some of the biggest games of the week.

The 5 Quarterbacks facing the most pressure in Week 2

Bryce Underwood - Quarterback - Michigan

Coming out of High School as the top QB in the Country, Bryce Underwood had a ton of potential to live up to the hype. After a rocky first season, Underwood didn’t do anything to show progress in Week 1, and now his status as the Wolverines starter is up in the air. Michigan needs Bryce Underwood to grow, and if he can’t make progress over the next few weeks, Kyle Whittingham may have no choice, but to make a change, even with his massive NIL deal.

Arch Manning - Quarterback - Texas

Last season Arch Manning’s time as Texas’ starting quarterback kicked off with him struggling mightily in the loss to Ohio State. This game will show how far Arch Manning has come, and he’ll need to impress if he’s truly the Top 5 NFL prospect he’s been built up to be. There’s no excuses this season as Texas has a great offensive line, solid rushing attack, and elite receivers surrounding Manning.

Drew Mestemaker - Quarterback - Oklahoma State

Oklahoma State was one of the most hyped teams of the offseason, but the excitement was crushed almost instantly with a loss to Tulsa. Drew Mestemaker was one of the driving forces for that hype after his breakout season, but his struggles sank the Cowboys in Week 1. Now the Oregon Ducks come to Stillwater after a shaky performance themselves, and Mestemaker’s going to need to play an incredible game for the Cowboys to leave with a win.

John Mateer - Quarterback- Oklahoma

When Oklahoma and Michigan faced off last season, John Mateer was dominant with his legs, but didn’t have the best day passing. As John Mateer attempts to prove that he’s taken the next step in his development, facing a tough Michigan defense serves as a massive test. Starting the season with a great showing against another top Power 4 program could serve as the launch point for a Heisman campaign, and a big step toward returning to the College Football Playoff

Devon Dampier - Quarterback - Utah

Week 1 was fun for the Utah Utes, but facing a cupcake opponent wasn’t a true test to start the Morgan Scalley era. This week brings the first Power 4 matchup of Scalley’s career as the Utes face Arkansas. The Razorbacks aren’t the strongest team, and if Utah is going to prove to be a College Football Playoff contender, and front runner in the Big 12, it starts with dominating this matchup.
