The LSU Tigers swung for the fences on their first step of rebuilding the program when they brought in Lane Kiffin this offseason. The decision gives LSU a head coach who's won at a high level in the SEC and will be a much better fit with the fanbase in Baton Rouge. While LSU already has its head coach, hiring Lane Kiffin won't make this team an instant winner as the roster has some issues.

There's a reason that Brian Kelly was fired, and Lane Kiffin was hired as LSU's team wasn't nearly good enough last season. The offensive line was made up of a ton of new starters, and it kept the team from fielding a solid offense. Garrett Nussmeier is now off to the NFL, and Michael Van Buren didn't look the most promising in relief.

Given the expectations around Lane Kiffin, and where the quarterback room is, Lane Kiffin is almost certainly going to hit the Transfer Portal.

DJ Lagway may be the perfect Transfer Portal addition for Lane Kiffin

On Monday, the Florida Gators lost their starting quarterback to the Transfer Portal as DJ Lagway decided to leave the program.

After such an exciting freshman season, DJ Lagway didn't take a big step like everyone was expecting him to make. Lagway threw for 2,264 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 14 interceptions, which was startling. The Florida star missed most of the Spring with an injury, and it looked like he never fully found a rhythm this season.

If you look at the schools that need to land a quarterback this offseason, LSU is seemingly the perfect match for DJ Lagway. If Lane Kiffin is interested in adding Lagway, he'd be crazy not to pick the Tigers based on Kiffin's track record with quarterbacks.

Lagway is at his best when he's throwing downfield. Playing in a Lane Kiffin offense that heavily relies on deep passes would make a ton of sense. At times when the Ole Miss offense struggled this season, it was because Trinidad Chambliss wasn't effective enough throwing downfield.

The biggest concern for LSU and Lane Kiffin would have to be DJ Lagway's injury history, which dates back to his time in High School. Picking DJ Lagway is a massive gamble, and if there's one school where it could pan out, it's LSU.
