The Ohio State Buckeyes have made a yearly tradition out of replacing some of the Nation's top wide receivers. Brian Hartline became one of the Nation's best assistant coaches by sending wide receivers to the NFL on a yearly basis, giving Ohio State one of the best offenses in the Country. This offseason, the latest receiver to take the pipeline from Columbus to the NFL was Carnell Tate, leaving a void in the Buckeyes receiving room.
The good news for Ohio State is that the best receiver in the country, Jeremiah Smith, returns along with starter Brandon Inniss, leaving just one role in the starting trio to be filled. Given how dominant Ohio State is on the recruiting trail, everyone pointed to incoming 5-star freshmen Chris Henry Jr and Jerquaden Guilford as potential starters, but a transfer may be stealing the spotlight.
UTSA transfer Devin McCuin appears to be Ohio State's latest gem
This offseason when Ohio State added 3-star transfer Devin McCuin from UTSA, the fans likely didn't think the move was much more than depth, especially with Kyle Parker following new WRs coach Cortez Hankton from LSU. Instead, in the early days of camp, Devin McCuin is drawing rave reviews for his dominance.

Over his three seasons at UTSA, Devin McCuin has shown a ton of promise, and Ohio State taking a chance on him clearly points to his potential. This past season for UTSA, Devin McCuin caught 65 passes for 726 yards and 8 touchdowns, adding 11 yards rushing.
Devin McCuin is the type of wide receiver that Ohio State needed to add, with Carnell Tate departing for the NFL Draft. McCuin has the speed to stretch opposing defenses, which should help draw attention away from Jeremiah Smith. While some of the younger wide receivers may have more talent and higher upside, McCuin will complement Smith and Innis nicely if he can stretch the field.
Wide receiver talent is never a question for Ohio State, and it shouldn't be even with Brian Hartline leaving for his first head coaching gig. While the position wasn't a question, McCuin's breakout this Fall should only make a strength even more impressive for the Buckeyes when the offense takes the field.
