Did it feel like we saw a true Orange Bowl game? It felt like an exhibition game. No competition, no fight. This was a one-sided domination performance by the former champs, Georgia Bulldogs. We expected the Bulldogs to be favorites in this game, but we did not expect this level of punishment in a bowl game. Georgia we’re hungry and stayed hungry throughout the whole game. Here are the three takeaways from the Orange Bowl.

Turnovers

Florida State committed four turnovers in the Orange Bowl. Turnovers can cost you games. You can’t win games when you turn the ball over and over again. Georgia’s defense made them pay.

Seminoles Didn’t Want it Bad Enough

It’s controversial when you label a player or team that they don’t want it bad enough. Much respect for the Seminoles for an impeccable season, but ever since they got left out of the College Football Playoffs, they lost the motivation and desire to play in the Orange Bowl. It’s unacceptable because this was a “Statement Game” for the Seminoles. This was their chance to show the world and the committee that they belonged in the playoffs. Many players opted not to play. Some had their reasons because of the NFL Draft, but at the same time, you want to compete and beat a tough team like Georgia. It’s not a good look when you don’t finish where you start. Where’s the winner's mentality? I didn’t see that in this game. This was an unacceptable performance by Florida State.

Georgia’s Unstoppable Offense

The Bulldogs have too much depth. We’re talking about a team that can hurt you in many ways. The Bulldogs had 36 first downs, 301 passing yards, 372 rushing yards, and converted 5 of their 9 third down conversions. Running back Kendall Milton and Daijun Edwards combined for four touchdowns. Four Bulldogs receivers scored a touchdown. Quarterbacks Carson Beck and Gunner Stockton combined for two touchdowns. Almost everyone contributes from an offense standpoint. Kirby Smart had his players ready for this game. He should be very content with this level of performance m. If only they wished they could’ve brought this energy against Alabama.

Georgia ends their season on a strong note and will carry this momentum into next season. As for Florida State, it’s a tough pill to swallow the way their season ended, but they should use this as motivation for next year.
