College Football Rankings: Week 2 AP Top 25 Poll
There’s a new AP top 25 poll and there’s a change in the top two after the first week of the season and the SEC sets a record.
After the Ohio State Buckeyes turned it back on in the second half in their opener against Virginia Tech on Monday night and won in convincing fashion, Cardale Jones, Braxton Miller and Ezekiel Elliott remain the top team in the AP top 25 poll for week 2.
The drama started at No. 2 where Alabama jumped TCU who struggled against Minnesota in their 23-17 win and the Crimson Tide dominated No. 20 Wisconsin 35-17 to secure the No. 2 spot, I predicted would happen.
TCU is no stranger to dropping in the polls despite a win after dropping from No. 3 to No. 6 in the playoff rankings at the end of last year despite a 55-3 win over Iowa State, but there’s plenty of time for TCU to get back to No. 2. Their conference rival, Baylor is right on their heels, however, and the Michigan State Spartans round out the top five. With the Spartans hosting No. 7 Oregon on Saturday, there will be a big shakeup in the top seven of the Week 3 AP top 25 poll.
The biggest winner in this week’s poll is Texas A&M who went from unranked to No. 16 after beating No. 16 Arizona State and is one of 10 teams from the SEC in the AP top 25 this week, including the entire SEC West, as the conference set a record for the most teams from a conference in the top 25.
