AP Top 25 Poll, Week 7: Baylor moves up to No. 2, closes gap on Ohio State
The Week 7 AP Top 25 poll is out and there is a new No. 2 with the Baylor Bears moving within striking distance of the Ohio State Buckeyes for the top spot.
While the debate continues to swirl about the defending champion Ohio State Buckeyes laying claim to the No. 1 spot because they haven’t been world beaters so far this season, the real debate starts at No. 2.

The second spot has been somewhat of a revolving door this year with Alabama, Michigan State, TCU and now Baylor occupying the runner-up spot. The Bears moved past their Big 12 brethren this week after another blowout win, albeit against Kansas while TCU needed to erase an 18-point deficit at Kansas State to hold on for the win.
So for the first time in a long time, a team was rewarded for beating Kansas and TCU was penalized again for winning, and winning on the road against a coach in Bill Snyder who knows how to gameplan against dominant teams.
The Michigan State Spartans fell three more spots to No. 7 after another unimpressive win and they’ll travel to the Michigan Wolverines this weekend to take on Jim Harbaugh’s team who rose six spots to No. 12 after beating then-No. 13 Northwestern for their third straight shutout. The Wildcats tumbled in the rankings, but not as much as Oklahoma who dropped nine spots to No. 19 after losing to the Texas Longhorns.
Let’s check out the full AP top 25 entering Week 7.
