2. Kellen Mond isn’t the answer

Kellen Mond had a bad game. There is no denying that. He even acknowledges that, as shown in the video below.

Mond didn’t hit the receivers that he needed to and when he did, at times those receivers didn’t make the plays on the ball that were required to win this one. We all knew he had to put together a basically perfect performance to win this game and that just isn’t what happened — not by a long shot.

All of that being said, the A&M fans that are calling for him to be benched are the kings of the overreaction club and really just need to stop playing around. Benching your junior quarterback due to one bad performance against the top team in the nation is never going to end well for you.

Let’s look back to the last time a true freshman was thrown into a game for the Aggies. Oh yeah, that was the legendary comeback that UCLA put together after Nick Starkel got hurt and Mond was thrown into the game unsure of what to do.

All that benching him will do is crush his confidence as they continue through the hardest schedule in the nation, and no one will convince me otherwise on that one. You want a quarterback who knows your system and has been through the ups and the downs with your team out on the field as the year progresses through a schedule like that and Mond is your guy.
