Sometimes it's players who flew under the radar behind the scenes or other times, a true freshman can prove instantly that they're capable of dominating the sport.

Every year, the wide receivers are seemingly the group that's most ready to make an instant impact as stars like Ryan Coleman-Williams, Jeremiah Smith, and Malachi Toney have taken over the sport. Heading into the 2026 season, there's another talented group of freshmen ready to emerge as superstars.

Chris Henry Jr - Ohio State

Brian Hartline's parting gift to Ohio State fans was securing the Nation's top ranked wide receiver in the country, Chris Henry Jr. At 6-foot-5, Chris Henry Jr brings a massive frame to the Ohio State offense which should allow him to play on the outside early, giving Arthur Smith the ability to move Jeremiah Smith around. Henry has been impressive as a true freshman, and while he battles Devin McCuin for a starting role, he'll have a massive role in the offense.

Jalen Lott - Oregon

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks were able to land 5-star Jalen Lott who could've played defensive back or wide receiver at the college level. Lott was a Summer enrollee, but it only took him one practice to look the part of a superstar in the making. The Ducks have a crowded wide receiver room, but Lott's showed in his first few days with the team that he's too talented to keep off the field this season.

Cederian Morgan - Alabama

Freshmen wide receivers have made a big impact in Kalen DeBoer's first two seasons with the breakouts of Ryan Coleman-Williams and Lotzeir Brooks. This season, the young wide receiver ready to make an impact is true freshman Cederian Morgan who spent most of the cycle as a 5-star recruit. Morgan has drawn rave reviews in his first Fall camp, and he's going to play a massive role in the Crimson Tide offense.

Enrolling in the Summer always makes it harder for a true freshman to earn a starting role, but when a recruit shows up and makes it look easy, it quickly changes the conversation. Boobie Feaster joins USC after a dominant career at DeSoto High School, and in his first practice he quickly proved he's going to factor into the Trojans wide receiver rotation as they replace Makai Lemon and Ja'Kobi Lane.

Naeem Burroughs - Clemson

Dabo Swinney's hesitance to use the Transfer Portal always gives true freshmen a chance to make an impact for Clemson. As the Tigers replace Antonio Williams, true freshman Naeem Burroughs looks like the next man up in a loaded wide receiver room. Burroughs will bring game breaking speed to the Tigers' offense, and he'll help spread opposing defenses for TJ Moore and Bryant Wesco.
